The Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 was one of the first machines built for Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, launched in November 2002. It is a convertible: a 10.4-inch touch-and-pen screen that works on its own as a slate, or clipped onto a detachable keyboard as a small notebook.
Inside is a Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 processor at 1 GHz, a low-power chip that translated x86 code on the fly, which helped the TC1000 run cool and last longer on battery than most laptops of its day.
This one arrived in May 2022. The photos show it reinstalling Windows XP and, once it was running again, playing a few classic games.
