The Matracom M05 is a portable Minitel terminal made by Matra Communication in Quimper, France. The label on the back calls it a terminal télématique portatif, a portable telematics terminal. It gave travelling users access to the French Minitel network (Videotex) from any telephone line, at a time when the regular Minitel was a bulky desk box.
It folds like an early laptop: a flip-up LCD screen, a full AZERTY keyboard with a numeric keypad, a built-in modem and a 12 V supply. The rear label shows it was approved (agréé) by France Télécom and sold with a guarantee running to February 1992.
