Sega released it as the Mega Drive in Japan in 1988, followed by North America as the Genesis in 1989. In 1990, it was distributed as the Mega Drive by Virgin Mastertronic in Europe, Ozisoft in Australasia, and Tectoy in Brazil. In South Korea, it was distributed by Samsung as the Super Gam*Boy and later the Super Aladdin Boy. Wikipedia
In my opinion the Mega Drive has to be Sega’s best console ever produced because of the multitude of arcade titles that were converted for this console.
Here is a list with the best games I ever played on this 16 bit monster.
Sonic The Hedgehog
There’s a few pinball games on Sega’s Mega Drive but this superb 1991 offering from Techno Soft remains a firm favorite.
The best platform/shooter game that features dazzling graphics, a crazy relentless pace and dozens of fantastic boss encounters.
Streets Of Rage 2
Desert Strike: Return To The Gulf
Shinobi III: Return Of The Ninja Master
Ecco The Dolphin
Thunder Force IV
Shining Force II
